About
Designed and managed processes to launch over 3000 products to the market
place. Reduced product development timing by 8 weeks. Successfully implemented
systems integrating project management, package design and formula control.
These are just a few of David Kaufman’s accomplishments.
David is an independent contractor offering business and technology consulting
services. With over twelve years of experience in the fast paced retail sector, he
understands how to drive results when time is of the essence.
A Six Sigma certified Black Belt from Villanova University, David knows how to
employ the DMAIC (design, measure, analyze, improve, control) process to make
project dollars count. Certified as a Technical Trainer by the Computing
Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), he is able to educate staff on new
processes and technologies.
Beginning his career as a PC Administrator at Gryphon Development, customer
service became a cornerstone of David’s approach. Learning desktop applications
and telecom systems based on user needs focused him on the practical side of
technology over the theoretical. This approach led him to develop a successful
multi-level training program on all desktop applications and a robust new hire
orientation getting associates up to speed quickly and effectively.
Innate curiosity brought David to a Marketing role, leading a team in developing and
launching beauty and personal care products for the Warner Brother’s Studio
Stores. During this time, WB successfully introduced both color cosmetics and an
anti-bacterial line.
Strong tech and business savvy were combined when he took ownership of
business systems education at Gryphon. Authoring comprehensive manuals on
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), he
was soon called on to manage the project management process and tools used to
develop and launch over 3,000 products a year.
Always focused on helping his users make the most of the tools at hand, David
began developing enhancements for Gryphon’s PLM tool learning the creation of
functional specifications, QA testing and implementation first hand.
In addition to this, David created and administered an in-house certification
program to the Material Planning and Purchasing teams. This included refresher
training and the successful completion of a practical exam on system usage. 100%
of staff were certified.
As Y2K approached and new solutions were needed, he led the effort to select,
design and implement an integrated solution managing all product introductions,
Optiva. This new tool included Product Lifecycle Management, Product Definition
Management (PDM) and Formula Control. Setting standards that were recognized
by the vendor and global user community, David was elected to lead the Optiva
North American Client Forum.
Since then, David received his Six Sigma certification and began managing both
process and system projects. Able to work at both the strategic and tactical
levels, David brings a unique perspective, seeing the bigger picture but never losing
sight of the practical and implementation.
Be it the micro process of how a new product concept is approved to the macro
world of business planning, David’s abilities to map out a project and move it to
completion drive results. From data cleanup and migration to system
implementations, process redesigns to associate education, David can get things
done for your organization.
